  KARACHI: Pakistan’s Mohammad Yousuf has set a new world record in test cricket of most runs in a calendar year Thursday while batting against West Indies on fourth day of the third test here at National Stadium Karachi.

Yousuf who has made 1711 runs in calendar year smashed 30 years old record of West Indies cricket great Sir Vivian Richards, who had scored 1710 runs in a calendar year playing against India and England in year 1975-76.

The middle order batsman has also set Pakistan record of scoring most runs in a three matches test series as he smashed Zaheer Abbas’s record of 583 runs in three tests.

Yousuf has broken record of most test centuries in a calendar year by scoring eight hundreds in a year.
